Marissa Ugarte who heads up the Bilateral Safety Coalition Corridor argues Mexican agencies’ oversight of orphanages is poor at best. She says if these children were abused at any time, and Antonio and Edna even knew about it, they should not be running an orphanage today.
“We can’t just make children liars. Our duty is first to believe the child then everything else,” said Ugarte.

This is an incredibly sad and frustrating story. Whether or not Tony & Edna participated in the abuse should not be the prevailing question. They allowed abusers to have contact with the children they vowed to protect and for that reason alone, Tony & Edna should step down or perhaps to save face, retire.
It appalls me that anyone claiming to be a Christian and caring for orphans would allow children to be violated and continue on for years. Have they no conscience. How can they look in the mirror each day knowing that dozens of children have been phyiscally and emotionally scarred for life. How can they sleep at night with the knowledge that those precious children (many now adults) have nightmares, are afraid to sleep, have flashbacks of the abuse they endured as children, are afraid to love, afraid to trust and question the validity of Christianity because of the abusive behavior they endured in Jesus name.
The experiences described by the victims are not made up for money. They are real and I know because I am a friend of a victim of the “Miracle” Ranch. She is an American citizen that proudly served her country in the Army, she is not an illegal looking for documents as was implied in another comment. My friend shared her experiences with me long before the news became public.
To those of you who were abused at the ranch, you are precious in the sight of God, you are not dirty. The shameful behavior of your abusers is NOT YOUR FAULT. God will not allow them to go with serious consequences for their actions. Thank you for being brave enough to come forward to try and spare other children from the abuse you endured.
