How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked.

PSALMS 82:2-4 (NKJV)

Since opening our investigation into the sexual abuse allegations at Miracle Ranch Orphanage, the preponderance of evidence continues to mount.  In ways it would be easier to wash our hands and to simply look for a new field in which to plant.  Our integrity is under attack by those who’d suggest we have more interest in the “land” as if we’d fabricate allegations of sexual abuse just to seize the right to property.

As benefactors and stewards of gifts given by faithful supporters, Miracle Ranch Orphanage Foundation had decided it was time to take legal precautions to transfer the property title into the Foundation’s name.  Having an individual’s name on the title seemed inappropriate and out of order. (When we purchased the land, Tony Hernandez told us the Mexican Government wouldn’t allow the title to be in the Foundation’s name.  That was not true; we were too trusting, and learned a hard lesson).

While trying to resolve the land title issue, we detected odd activity in the Directors use of funds, gifts, and donations made to Miracle Ranch Orphanage.  The level of corruption that was soon to be revealed was unimaginable.  The timing, however, was a fluke; for it was at this same time that the first of many sexual abuse allegations began to surface.

So far 40 victims have come forward to confirm the allegations and expose the abuse that fractured their childhood innocence.  When Polygraph Tests vindicated the credibility of the victims we were unable to stand by and do nothing.  We hired Attorney’s William C. Bollard and Enrique Gandara.  You may read testimonies, updates, and public declarations as investigated by Mexican authorities by visiting our website at www.miracle-ranch.org.

We’ve since learned of abuse at other orphanages in Mexico. A precedent needs to be set for reform that will go beyond Miracle Ranch Orphanage. This may become a landmark case; however, we can only do what we see to do.  Here are our targeted goals:

  • 1. To continue to receive donations to feed, clothe, and house orphans.
Please note:  since legal action and investigation by Mexican officials are still in motion, our support of Miracle Ranch Orphanage is withheld.  We are not affiliated with Baja Children’s Fund (those supporting and defending Tony Hernandez with what seems like small regard for the allegations). It feels reckless to supply money into the hands of an alleged child molester.  We believe the cause is better served if children were moved to another orphanage until the investigation is complete. For now, this foundation will receive donations to help the homeless in other orphanages.
  • 2. To establish a Relief Fund to help victims of Miracle Ranch Orphanage.  Former and current alleged victims have the need for professional counseling.  With broken lives, most have been unable to maintain healthy relationships.  We need your help to provide the counseling they need.
  • 3. To establish a Legal Fund to fray the expenses of the on-going investigation.  Substantial evidence supports the allegations made by victims and substantiated by staff members.  Whether facing political corruption, bribery, use of position for dishonest gain, or those who simply turn a deaf ear, we feel like David facing a vile Goliath.

Your financial support is needed; all three of our targeted goals are a response to God’s cry to “defend the poor and fatherless; to do justice to the afflicted and needy; to deliver the poor and needy; and to free them from the hand of the wicked.” Please, join with us.  Let us not be found guilty of showing favor to the wicked. Thank you for your interest and concern for the safety and well-being of orphaned children in Ensenada, Mexico.

Faithfully in Christ,

Steve Schinhofen
